Transylvania Residency

After 14 hours from Prague by train, I arrived in the early morning mist of the Carpathian Mountains. Slowly I explored, with my MPP camera, a place that seemed to suggest an idyllic lifestyle, but with an underlying edge, the edge of Europe, modernity and a hard survival working on the land. History tells its own story of cultural struggle: Austro-Hungarian, Romanian, Communist and East European which can still be felt today.

Following a visit to a hardware shop, I processed my film in two buckets using an improvised wire and clip frame Transylvanian style and I like to think that some of that condition comes through in the photographs.
